    Highlights

    Bang Pa-In Palace

    • Former summer residence of Thai kings, rebuilt during the reigns of King Rama IV and King Rama V. The palace beautifully blends Thai, Chinese, Victorian, and Gothic architectural styles, making it the largest and most elegant among Thailand’s five royal summer palaces

    Wat Mahathat

    • Part of the UNESCO-listed Historic City of Ayutthaya, this temple is renowned for the iconic Buddha head entwined in tree roots—one of the most symbolic and photographed cultural landmarks in Ayutthaya.

    Wat Lokayasutharam (Reclining Buddha Temple)

    • Home to a magnificent 42-meter-long and 8-meter-high outdoor reclining Buddha, this is the largest outdoor reclining Buddha in Thailand and one of Ayutthaya’s must-visit landmarks.
    • Believed to date back to the Ayutthaya period, the temple was largely destroyed during the Thai–Burmese wars, leaving only the temple foundations and the grand reclining Buddha exposed to the open sky.
    • Visitors may purchase a lotus flower and incense to pay respects and pray for blessings. Upon closer look, you’ll also notice a small reclining Buddha placed on the incense altar.
    • During special religious occasions such as Buddhist holy days, the statue is ceremonially draped in a golden-yellow robe, adding a uniquely sacred atmosphere to the site.

    Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon

    • Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon is one of the oldest and best-preserved temples in Ayutthaya, originally built in the 14th century. It was later associated with King Naresuan’s victory over the Burmese army in 1592, when he famously defeated the enemy in an elephant battle. The temple’s name means “Great Temple of Auspicious Victory.”
    • The highlights of the temple include its grand chedi (stupa), numerous seated Buddha statues, and an impressive reclining Buddha. The 28-meter-long outdoor reclining Buddha is especially popular among visitors. According to local belief, if you can successfully stick a coin to the sole of the Buddha’s foot, it will bring good luck and help your wishes come true.

    Ayutthaya Prawn Market

    • Ayutthaya is one of Thailand’s key sources of freshwater giant prawns, offering an abundant supply in various sizes for you to choose from. The prawns are neatly categorized by size, making selection easy and convenient.
    • With prices generally more affordable than in Bangkok, enjoying prawns in Ayutthaya offers excellent value for money. It’s a popular weekend destination for Bangkok food lovers seeking fresh, high-quality seafood.

    Ayutthaya Night Market

    • Looking to experience authentic Thai flavors in a vibrant local setting? The Ayutthaya Night Market is the perfect place to indulge.
    • Here, you’ll find a wide variety of delicious and affordable street food—from classic Thai favorites to local specialties loved by residents. Follow the crowds and discover some of the most authentic and satisfying tastes of Thailand.

    Ayutthaya Local Tuk-Tuk Experience

    • Experience Ayutthaya like a local by riding its iconic tuk-tuk! Unlike the ones in Bangkok, Ayutthaya’s tuk-tuks have a more distinctive and traditional design, adding a unique charm to your journey.
    • Sit back and enjoy the city’s historic scenery and everyday local life as you ride through ancient streets. It’s a fun and authentic way to immerse yourself in Ayutthaya’s culture and atmosphere.

    Ayutthaya Night Temple Tour

    • Don’t head back to your hotel too early—Ayutthaya reveals a completely different charm after sunset. As night falls and the ancient ruins are illuminated, the temples take on a breathtaking new appearance.
    • Golden lights reflecting on the towering chedis create a solemn and sacred atmosphere. Stroll through the softly lit historic sites and feel the grandeur and dignity of these centuries-old monuments.
    • The enchanting night scenery of Ayutthaya will captivate you, making it one of the most unforgettable highlights of your journey.
